About
The Story of This Project
Years ago, we were a circle of friends, most of us serious about science. On 10 March 2015 we went together to a session on evolution at the University of Guilan. That wasn't the end of it: on 14 December 2015 a debate on evolution was held, and this time we weren't just spectators; we got involved ourselves. We prepared content and even started an online group so that people interested in the subject could come together.
It was through all of this that I noticed a gap: despite the many websites and pages devoted to science communication, simple, accurate and coherent material explaining the core ideas of evolution in Persian was hard to find. After some searching I came across Understanding Evolution, a website by the University of California Museum of Paleontology, and in December 2015 I began translating its Evolution 101 section, posting the pages to that same online group and to the Evolution 101 Telegram channel.
A few years later, in January 2020, I brought these scattered pieces together as the website evolution101.ir. In autumn 2026, with the help of the Claude language model, I compared the translated pages against the original website once again to bring them in line with its current version, and added a glossary section so that the meaning of the technical terms in the text is at hand too, though I am still reviewing parts of the content.
